This year, Biola Accounting Society is stepping up its events in big ways. In the coming semester, BAS will be hosting an average of two outside events per month. Many of these events are new to BAS's traditional calendar and focus on four principles: (1) student development, (2) firm interaction, (3) service to the community, and (4) fun with other students.
BAS has had a great history of preparing members for their careers. Events such as Meet the Firms, Mock Interviews, and Resume Development have equipped students with the skills needed for the work force. This year, BAS is adding a Meet the Firms Prep Seminar where students can learn the ropes of networking, resumes, and dress codes.
Additionally, BAS will provide more opportunities for firm interaction. This semester, BAS has arranged office tours, Meet the Firms, and on campus interviews to give students the chance to start their career in accounting after graduation.
A new addition this year is the community service event. Later on in this semester, BAS will invite students, alumni, and firms to give back to those in the local community. This is a great chance to use whatever talents we have in a serving manner.
Finally, there will be fun. Events such as kayaking will be added to bring Biola Accounting students closer together and provide a fun way to get away from the stresses of school.
